BIOS Section in Desktop and Laptop

BIOS (Basic Input output System) is a ROM , which store all hardware Information and also store the Logo of Computer Manufacture Company. When PC start first run the BIOS program and check all hardware and its working properly.

Notes 1: Latest Desktop Motherboard has Two Bios Chip that is Main BIOS Chip and Backup Bios Chip. If bios one chip fail then work on second Bios chip.

Notes 2: Latest Laptop Motherboard has also two Bios That name is EC(embedded controller ) BIOS and PCH Bios. EC bios Handle the power management and and PCH Bios has program.

Some laptop also has EC Bios inside the Super IO (SIO).

SIO is programmable, program the SIO before Place. 

If BIOS is faulty/ Program corrupt then create the following problem…

     

Ø No display problem/Total Dead

Ø Diagnostic card Show code 00 and FF

Ø Diagnostic card Holding Code or Still the code after Some Running.

Ø Some time Display come and some time not come

Ø On display, Computer Hang in LOGO

Ø Computer hang during press DEL/F2

Ø In Bios Hang PC

Ø Does not Save any Kinds of Setting

Ø  BIOS Save Setting but Some time same Condition

Ø Date time change automatic but CMOS Battery is OK.

VDD pin is supply pin 3.3v
VSS pin is GND pin

Main Checking Point: If Nodisplay All supply ok. also program total dead condition laptop . in case of EC Bios

Ø Check BIOS Supply 3.3v, it should be present.

Ø Check Address data on BIOS ROM Chip pin.Resold IC but same condition then reprogramming of BIOS.
